The "lightweight" slate alternative to the traditional heavy and expensive slate. Lightweight real slate makes natural slate a feasible option for roofs which are not able to support the weight of traditionally installed slate. Yes, traditional slate roofs are heavy-and expensive-putting them out of the reach of most middle-market property owners.
For homeowners who struggle with high electricity bills, a simple solution is to bring more natural light into your home. More natural light means less time that your electric lights need to function. And an easy way to bring in more natural light is to install skylights into your home. The Skylight Company, an extension of The Roofing Company, is fully certified in the installation of top quality Velux Skylights.

My wife and I chose the Roofing Company to install a new roof on our house in Kiln Creek. They installed a GAF Roof with the Golden Pledge Warranty and we are excited to have the peace of mind that comes with not having to worry about our roof for a long time. They recently came out for our one year check up to make sure that everything is holding up well.

We noticed a difference with our roof the first time a heavy rain came through and all we heard inside the house was silence. We do like the sound of rain drops but the peace and quiet was wonderful as well. They went above and beyond what we expected, replacing fascia boards that were rotting and installing them in a way to prevent the rot from coming back.

They installed kickback flashing to keep the water away from the siding and walls of the house and copper pipe collars that not only look pretty but will last the test of time. We cant be happier with the service that we got from both Greg, Brian as well as the entire crew that came out. Thank you all for everything that you did for us.

Critical: Value Why do small businesses come into Kingsmill and expect to give estimates on work two to three times they would get anywhere else. Just because people live here do not expect them to be naive and get more than one estimate.

I absolutely love the solar tubes! And solar night lights! Solar tubes were not new to me as we have one in the stairwell and my mom has a couple, but I underestimated the difference they would make upstairs. With the light from the bedroom windows overflowing into the hallway I would have never had the tubes installed, but I had already bought them when our house was being built so just went with it. so glad I did! Ken was the first face of the company that I saw and was great.

He checked out the areas where I wanted the solar tubes, took pictures, then sat down with me and explained everything. He suggested adding the solar nightlights which again didn't seem like a big deal to me, but they inadvertently made the project less expensive due to the solar rebates available so it was a no-brainer. And, I love the solar nightlights!

It will be great when my grandkids are here and get up in the middle of the night. they can see to get to the bathroom without flipping on lights! Kevin was the man that did the work. He contacted me to let me know he was on the way, arrived at the appointed time, did an awesome installation job, and cleaned up after himself. The solar nightlights did not come in in time, but arrived after he was at my house so, yes, he drove back to the office/warehouse to get them so he could complete the job that day! Kind, polite, professional, and a job well done. what else could one ask for?!?!? Ken came out the beginning of November and estimated a February install.

It was a month later before I pulled the trigger and said let's do this. I was never given a new date, but I assumed that now it wouldn't be till March. Seven days later I received a phone call; there was a cancelation and my solar tubes were installed 8 days after I signed the contract! Win, Win! In the photos below, I covered the solar tubes for the "before" pic so you could see the difference.

Today is actually a cloudy, overcast day, but you can still see what a huge difference it makes. The 3rd pic is at night to give you an idea of the amount of light the solar nightlights produce.

This is the first google review I have ever written. I called about a small leak in my roof (we noticed some we cardboard boxes in our eves) The rep came out, spent an hour and a half looking over the roof, climbed on top, checked over everything and came back to me with his recommendations, "You had one (1) nail up. I hammered it down, added some caulk, checked over the rest of the roof, and did a couple of quick fixes.

You should be all set. Call me in 5 years when you need a new roof." I was out of work at the time (covid). Talk about a weight off my shoulders. I am not looking forward to purchasing a new roof when necessary (no one looks forward to that). But I know exactly who I will call when I need one. The Roofing Company, through their outstanding customer service, has earned my business and my recommendation. I will shout their name to anyone I care about who needs a roof. Thank you for demonstrating American Excellence. Great Company!

Three C's were involved with our new roof installment. Cost, Communication, and Clean up. From our initial cost assessment with Chuck to the clean up crew we were very satisfied. Every step along the way we were kept informed about what was happening next, and when it would be done. I never had to call and question what was going on or when they were coming to do the work. Greg was a great onsite project manager.

He kept us informed on how the job was going, what extra needed to be done and why. ( He was even nice to the dog!) I was extremely happy with the clean up after the roof was finished. They can come and clean up around my house anyday! Sorry I never got to meet James.

The Roofing Company installed a new shingled roof on our home. Once job was completed my wife and I noticed a strange smell throughout our home. After a few days we were concerned that we may have a possible gas leak from the installation. TECO came out immediately and inspected our home. He told us we shouldn't even be in the house and that we had a significant leak.

We called our gas company who then came out to repair. Gas company informed us that the roofers nailed into our gas line which runs through our attic and down to the pool heater. We called Roofing Co. to let them know and how upset we were that the outcome from the leak could have had significant consequences. We expected nothing more than the reimbursement for the repair which came to approx. $1,700.

We have received nothing but a run around and a refusal to pay for the damages. Our gas line was inspected, permitted and approved by the county 3 years ago but Roofing Co is implying it was our fault and our problem. We now are having to report this with our homeowners insurance who also reported that Roofing Company should have taken care of the problem

We have had two hail storms that damaged our roof. The first time I went with a company and ended up with several leaks. The second time I went with The Roofing Company and purchased the complete GAF system. No problems or leaks since. Plus Ken comes out once a year and inspects the roof for any damage. Highly recommend The Roofing Company for your roofing needs.

My parents had these people come to my house and they took a deposit! Next, had an architect come to "see" if the house could support the roof. The architect charged thousands and the roofers gave a $450,000 price (including architectural support). My parents found a Spanish barrel tile roof with SLOPE Roofers and has a 50 year warranty with 1/5 the cost! Shop around! My parents spent $6500 for nothing. except a HUGE hypothetical cost! My mom still tells me that they spent my tuition money on nothing from them!

See attached pictures. I'll start by saying I wouldn't recommend this company at all. I'm in the military so my time is limited. I initially contacted this company around March/April 2021 for leaks I was experiencing with my roof. I was quoted $3k to remove an attic vent on the second level attic that was causing leaks and to repair leaks in the attic of the first level of my home.

They removed the second level attic vent and repaired that leak. The problem began with first level attic. They removed the vinyl siding along the roof line and sealed it. So I thought the problem was solved. A couple of weeks later, it rained so I checked to see if there were any leaks. There was still a leak dripping in the same spot but this time there was multiple leaks.

I contacted the employee who performed the job that I was still experiencing leaks. He came out and told me in order to identify the leak, he will need to perform a $450 water test. After paying 3k, you don't expect to have to pay more money if you thought the issue was resolved, but a water test was never done prior so I obliged. He preformed the water test and said the leaks was coming from a second level window.

He said the The Roofing Company would charge me another $1700 for the work that was also recommended originally. But he could just do it on the side for $250. So I let him perform the work, he caulked the window that the leak was coming from with the water test. A couple of weeks later it rained again, same leaks but this time it's progressed more.

I called the employee who performed the job and explained it's still leaking. When he came, they drilled a metal sheet above the window and let it sit there until it rained again to see if in fact, that's where the leak was coming from. It rained again but it wasn't leaking as much this time so they removed the metal sheet that sat above my window for a couple weeks and sealed the window again.

It rained again, and the same leaks appeared but this time on both ends of the lining of the attic. So instead of calling the employee (who was really a good guy and extremely helpful) who did the work, I called the company. I explained to them that their employee came out a couple times to try and fix the leaks but it's still leaking. The Roofing Company never knew the employee was coming out to my home, so they made their employee refund me for the amount they charged me for the work.

They apologized and offered to send someone else out this time. The new employee who was kind and helpful, reviewed all the work that was done prior and advised we should go with flashing to be installed under the vinyl siding of the house. Flashing was originally recommended, on top of other recommendations. But it was never installed. He also suggested two windows to be replaced, due to them being installed incorrectly.

It was thought that the leaks is actually coming from the windows and how they were installed. This new employee said he would get back with me in two days with the amount for the new quote. After everything I went through, I still considered this company's business. After two days went by, no phone call. So a couple days later I called the company and asked for the new quote for additional work I was quoted for.

The receptionist said they have to contact another company before they could give me an accurate quote for the windows. The company NEVER called back at all with an update or anything to go with. So I'm assuming they just washed their hands of everything. Of course, I called another company who said The Roofing Company overcharged me, and quoted me for a lesser price than what they quoted me for.

Unless you want to go through what I went through with this unreliable and expensive company, I wouldn't recommend you using them. Edit: The company read the review, apologized for the negligence and wanted to discuss it. They sent 2 people to go over all the paperwork and recommendations from the very beginning of the project. They also said as a courtesy, they could perform additional test to check for leaks. We declined the offer and thanked them for trying to resolve the matter.

Chuck renewed my faith in the Roofing Company. He came out to inspect my NEW roof for a suspected leak. He crawled into the hot attic a took a picture of an AC line that had worn insulation. Condensation was causing the ceiling stain and not a roof leak. Chuck took time to take some pictures of the roof exterior, too. Still looks great! Thanks for your professionalism and explanation of the problem, Chuck. AC guy is coming over soon to fix the issue.

James was outstanding. Takes pride in his work. Friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. He explained the (contracted) roof repair, materials, and options. He also inspected the attic to get a better view (not available at initial inspection). I could not have been more pleased. Service: Roof repair

We have an old house with a "complicated" roof. The Roofing Company provides excellent diagnostics and repairs. Mike and James are great to work with! Mike explained the work thoroughly, and he and James were very careful placing ladders etc. to avoid damaging shrubbery. They finished the job quicker than I expected. We've had several hard rains since the work was done and no signs of any leaks! I will continue to use The Roofing Company and recommended them to neighbors.

Several years ago our neighborhood suffered extensive roof damage from hail. Like my neighbors I solicited bids and choose 'The Roofing co' to do the replacement. They seemed thorough, including getting into extensive arguments with the insurance company about what should be repaired and what needed to be done according to code. Anyway, I signed the contract and the roof went up and I thought everything was fine.

During the ensuing summer months, we started getting an enormous amount of condensation coming thru the ceiling vents, dripping down onto electronics and making messes everywhere, including frying one laptop and causing extensive black mold in our insulation. I had no idea what was causing this so the following summer it started again and our HVAC specialist was in my house doing the annual to check the AC for the brutal summer months so I asked him if he thought it might be an AC issue.

He looked around and said we had no Ridge Vents installed on the roof, which was causing the attic to superheat. We also needed to add some side venting but it was the lack of Ridge vents that was causing the heat level to explode and the buildup of condensation in the vents. So I dug up the The Roofing Company contract and it was right in the list of job duties, 'replace all roof Ridge Vents".

This job had been contracted out almost three years back. I immediately contacted them and they said they would review the contract and get back to me. Few days later the guy came out, and immediately started commenting that we did not have side vents up in the attic and this was probably what was causing the water in the vents. I asked if he had brought or reviewed the original contract and he said he 'had looked at it back in the office." So what about the Ridge Vents your company was supposed to install? " Uhhh, hmmm, Well, obviously they would have to be installed so he went back out to the truck to draft an estimate. HUH?

He came back and before he even started going over what it would cost I showed him the contract and the job requirement for INSTALLING RIDGE VENTS and he looked at it and he looked at it and he said "You know, if the contract sez we were supposed to have done that I guess we'll have to do it". UNSAT! First off, instead of acting all mealy mouthed and trying to divert responsibility, I would have been much MORE impressed if he would have arrived at my house with contract in his hand, immediately gone up to the roof, recognized they had failed to complete the project correctly, and then apologized.

He then could have/would have said he did not know why this was not done or why the project manager missed it or why nobody picked it up when they reviewed the job but they would immediately correct the issue and try and find out what happened. Instead of acting like a sheepish fool, hand caught in the candy jar, trying to dodge paying for an installation that should have be correctly done in the first place and making it even WORSE by trying to squeeze me for even MORE money!

Look folks, maybe this was isolated incident but the companys response to their obvious screwup was wrong, it was sleazy and its the kind of work a poorly run business would try and pull. The only way to be sure these guys had done the contracted job properly would have been to hire ANOTHER roofing company after they were finished and have them inspect their work to ensure they completed it properly.

If your OK doing that and spending the money, by all means use these guys. And also, once the ridge vents went in as they were supposed to, all the condensation coming out of the AC vents immediately stopped.

If this company took it's work as seriously as social media, then it would not have any problems. IN RESPONSE TO YOUR RIDICULOUS post, I am a practicing dentist of 20 years and my husband is an OB/GYN, practicing 25 years, and have NO IDEA what a LUDOWICI roof is (nor were we educated)? I never received a "design" from BRIAN OR THE ROOFING COMPANY, and had no idea WHO the ENGINEERING FIRM WAS (THAT ROOFING COMPANY HIRED)? BRIAN came to my office and asked for a check for the engineering firm.

I WAS NEVER TOLD ANOTHER $4200 (for subsequent visits after COVID PROBLEMS)? FINALLY, 80-90K for a roof is a substantial amount of money. BRAVA, composite tile, is hardly "CHEAP". BRAVA is in "THE ROOFING COMPANY'S word's SO CHEAP".really? DISNEY AND UNIVERSAL STUDIOS HAVE ALL ROOFS COMPLETE BY BRAVA.in addition we get a 50 year warranty! USAA LOVES US! SKIP THIS COMPANY! THE ROOFING COMPANY will not answer your phone calls, want money up front immediately, hire their own engineers (questionable fees) and finally are in no rush to give you an estimate. PS-No resident will ever call you back after getting a $560,000 estimate/ out $8100 for nothing.they will post their experiences on SOCIAL MEDIA, contact BBB and hire a good, hungry lawyer:):):):):):):)

Signed a contract and paid for a replacement skylight. I gave them a negative Google review for their professionalism. Must have hurt their feelings because, while they were happy to charge my credit card, they refused to honor their signed contract. Their reason was hurt feelings for the review. Unfortunately the US Supreme Court rejected the "puddy-woody-wo hurt feelings" defense as a legal reason for contract cancellation.

Their estimator shows up on my doorstep, uninvited and unannounced, and waives a "Mutual Cancellation" agreement full of "Whereas's", and even a "Now Therefore " - can't argue with that - somebody managed to finish freshmen year in law school. The agreement basically stated that if I agreed to cancel the contract, they would refund my money - very tempting.

Unfortunately they forgot that "Mutual" requires both parties to sign and in the absence of a legally recognizable grounds, they have committed a material breech of the contract and were crazy enough to put it in writing. So it's off to District Court.

Make sure you get multiple quotes before you go with the Roofing Company. We have had an active leak in an addition of our home (about 300 square feet) since December. We called The Roofing Company out since they were the ones who did the inspection on our home when we bought it and they told us that we needed to replace three rows of shingles which we paid them $2,300 to do. However, the roof continued to leak.

We called the Roofing Company back out and they said we needed metal wrap around the addition to prevent the leak. So we spent another $3,939 to do that. The roof continued to leak and the Roofing Company kept returning to our property to conduct water tests to see where the water was coming in. They finally discovered it was in the window and wanted to charge us $950 just to look at the problem--that was not the cost to fix it.

We went with another contractor who fixed it perfectly for $567 the first time--including a service fee to assess the issue. We recently discovered that the roof is still leaking and it's from the flashing and The Roofing Company basically told us that they recommended replacing the roof in the first place (this was suggested repair in the original work order) and that they would need to replace the entire roof to fix the flashing.

At this point we have called in another roofing professional who found a ton of issues that The Roofing Company missed and is fixing them for a much more reasonable rate and much faster. We had an active leak in our home and The Roofing Company was routinely scheduling work for 6-9 weeks out. We will not be using such a large company again. All of this is compounded by the fact that they are very difficult to get in touch with.

The first time I reached out to them I had to call the salesman 3 times just to get a response. I have routinely emailed their office without receiving a response. In all, we have had this leak for 7 months and we feel like the Roofing Company misdiagnosed the leak multiple times and we paid a lot of money for repairs that didn't work. We also had to call The Roofing Company back out to our property on two occasions because work was incomplete or completed incorrectly.

We had new gutters installed as part of the second work order and they were installed so poorly that one downspout was literally hanging off of our house and wasn't even attached. They also didn't complete the metal wrap work order and we had to call them back out to complete that. They also somehow missed this huge problem when they did our home inspection. Long story short, do your due diligence in getting multiple quotes before going with The Roofing Company. And be prepared to be persistent and patient.

I wish I would had never used this company for my roof and sky lights. They advertise and their sales guy very much loves to say they use factory trained GAF installers. The truth is they us sub contractors who most cannot speak English and from the results I got had no clue how to shingle a roof. I do not have a problem with that if they knew what they where doing. I've installed roofs and know how to do them.

I am very glad I was very involved in the first install. Yes they had to install the new roof 2xs. I'll say the crew only knew how to nail with a nail gun as in you put it down and pull the trigger. You couldn't find a single shingle nailed properly. High nailed and blew through most shingles. Also never used a string line. Had no clue how to install the sky lights.

Now the owner finally made things right for the most part but I still have issue with the way they handled themselves. Their business practices are questionable in the least. Be very aware of what you sign.-Their contract only looks out for them not you. I would stay far away from using this company. After months of dealing with all of this owner would not compensate me for my time which I feel he should had.

Also sales guy claimed they have a GAF person come out and inspect roof to make sure its up to the standards I even told him I wanted to make sure this happened and he assured me it would. After the first roof the owner comes out and tells me that GAF no longer does home inspections anymore. He also gave me his word that they would have gaf come out and inspect after I paid him in full 32k!

They have not contacted me about this or anything. I've called and they claim it will happen but cannot tell me when. Owner tells me the first roof didn't leak alluding to the fact they did a good job the first time. Which is not correct at all. My point is this. Your a homeowner who has never done a roof you go with a company who has these great claims and you pay more but than many other companies Bc you want to make sure the roof is installed correctly. That's what you're paying for.

They use a sub to do horrible work and leave. You get a golden pledge warranty in the mail without anyone inspecting the work. The roof leaks yrs down the road. They send out a gaf inspector and they say the roof was never installed correctly therefore the warranty is no longer good. Basically stay away from this company if you know what's good for you.

The re-roofing of my 1921 Bungalow has been VERY disappointing. Before the crew even got done they had to rip off the cricket and re-do it. Their laborers put a ridge vent on a section that wasn't supposed to have one and damaged the original tongue and groove roofing that was there. Then a few weeks later we had a material leak in my brand new 50 year roof (didn't even make it 50 weeks) in the kitchen, right over the stove.

After they came out and supposedly fixed the leak a few weeks later, it just broke loose again even worse then before they said they fixed it (Pictures available). Overall I am extremely disappointed at the sharp decline in the quality of workmanship, competence and lack of supervision. I would not recommend them to anyone until they (a ROOFING Company) can install a roof properly.

This company provides inaccurate scopes of work, communicates ineffectively, does not provide accurate estimates, and their proposed jobs are written in a manner by which they are confusing. Their work product, which might be great (I am not knowledgeable enough to know), is viciously expensive and their billing practices are abhorrent. They force customers to agree to an inflated quantity of work hours and charge the full amount even when the work takes far less than the estimate indicates.

The company justifies this by saying the customer must pay for transportation to and from the warehouse, a supply store, and the work site, then back again. In my experience, that is the cost of doing business. Other reviews indicate that Chuck Simpson was courteous, professional, and helpful. He was rude, did not communicate effectively, and ultimately yelled at me on the phone when I inquired about the companies billing practices.

He literally yelled at me, not metaphorically. Attempts to rectify with the owner were met with resistance, with them maintaining their suspicious billing practices. They are also not a certified member of the Better Business Bureau, leaving no options for recourse. I will not be using this company in the future, I believe there are far more reasonable and equally effective companies in Hampton Roads.

I absolutely loved working with this company. I do not live in the state where my home was being repaired, and after countless estimates from other companies, I went with The Roofing Company. Their bid wasn't the lowest I received, but their customer service and how thorough they were throughout the process was unmatched. The pictures before and after the job were done very well, the project manager contacted me several times throughout the roofing project, and made me feel like I was right there in town.

I cannot recommend them more, and was surprised to see some less than stellar reviews here. That's a real shame because I believe them to be an amazing business with incredibly helpful staff. Thank you Brian, Kris, Debbie, and everyone else at The Roofing Company!

A Flat Residential Roof My initial interaction was negative but after they stepped up to the plate and resolved the issues I decided to delete my earlier review and re-post. Finding a reputable company to do a flat residential roof is difficult. It is more challenging than a shingle roof. After several hard rains I am very pleased with the outcome of their work. I can now recommend them without hesitation.

Be careful using this company. They took the time to obtain GAF (manufacturer) certification. They are not BBB accredited. The contract terms and conditions had grammar problems that made it difficult to interpret legally. The proposed job description was poorly organized and difficult to interpret as well. The proposal contradicted the attic ventillation NFA standard that I was trying to meet or exceed.

The proposal did not show how it met the requirements for GAF warranty. Sales person claimed expense for design work. Design work is offered for free by GAF and other roofing product manufacturers. Sales person offered freebies that he could not specify in writing. I called GAF, produced my own requirements, and bid out to companies that are BBB sponsors. The company contacted me and claimed defamation by my review.
