Edit: On February 28, 2022 I received a call from the owner of this company. He had read my original review review (which was not very good) and wanted to talk to me. I reviewed the story with him. We had a very honest and polite discussion. He seems like a nice guy. He admitted that mistakes had been made, and wanted to know if there was anything that could be done.
He made an offer and I accepted. People make mistakes. I was impressed that he called and admitted a mistake. That is rare in these times. ========================================================

Wow! My experience with Hardesty Roofing was amazing! Sam Hardesty himself came out and did the initial inspection and consultation with me to hear what I wanted and to explain step by step of what they were going to do when their crew came out. His estimate was very reasonable as well. Brittany and Sharon at the office kept in contact with me to make sure I knew exactly when they were to come out and the crew of four gentlemen worked hard for two days to get the job done and correctly! Thank you all for the awesome experience and job well done!

Between the time I signed the commitment letter and the installation of my roof, I had a heart attack. It put my finances in a bad way. Hardesty Roofing showed their heart and worked with me by allowing me to go on a payment plan instead of demanding the entire amount when the roof was completed. Service: Roof installation

Do not use this company if you are going through your insurance company. They do not assist you when dealing with insurance company. I had damage from the ice storm where part of my roof needed to be repaired. Hardesty did not want to repair it, but wanted to replace the whole roof. So I went ahead and replaced the roof. When I asked for a quote for the repair portion to send to the insurance company, they gave me the run around. Promised to get back to me.
They NEVER responded to calls and only responded to emails after constant contact. They kept telling me the estimator would call me back and he never did. Coleman was the estimator and he seemed to not have any customer service skills at all. They also over ordered materials (at my cost) so I had a lot left over. Very poor customer service. I would not recommend as there are plenty of other respectable roofing companies.

Company not only didn't finish shingles but put them in incorrectly. My dad saw them flopping in the wind and said something to their employee. He stated that the owner measured wrong and they would be back. My parents are older and we're telling me about it so I contacted them in December. They were sending someone right away but this is now August with no response. I contacted them today and they were supposed to call me back again and never did. Stay away from this company

Outstanding service and quality! They completed my roof on one day. When I arrived home from work they were cleaning up. By the time I changed clothes and went back outside you couldn't even tell they had been there! Outstanding service and top of the line quality in their workmanship as well as the products offered. I am a satisfied a d happy customer. I would recommend them 100%. Mac

Installed roof After a few years Starting having issues with pouring over my kitchen window & into my siding leaving my inside wall damp they agreed it was a warranty issue But sent out four different people including VP of operations over the past few months and still not corrected Update: Company requested extra money to redo repair for the third time, they sent out a sub contractor.
They showed me to holes in the area I showed them months ago. Subcontractor then completed the warranty repair. Very frustrating & challenging to get the company to repair the damage inside my house. Bottom line they only replaced drywall & paint on the ceiling & not the walls.

BUYER BEWARE Do NOT use this roofing company. If you have a problem with your roof it will not be dealt with. They say they have a 12 year labor warranty but they either take their time honoring it or never honor it at all. I will be contacting the better business bureau to report my complaint. This company is very sneaking.

Don't waste your time, I called to schedule an estimate on a roof replacement. Took several days for someone to call me back. When they called back they said they would be there that day. Never showed and never got an estimate. We moved on and everyone else that we called came same day and gave us our estimate. They obviously arent really wanting work.

Recently, I contracted Hardesty Roofing to replace my shingle roof. From start to finish it was a top notch job! The inital contact, the meeting with Sam Hardesty to provide the estimate, the courteous and helpful office staff, and the crew that actually performed the work were all helpful and professional throughout the process. Even though the project itself felt like a tornado came through over two days, everything was cleaned up and left the way it was before they came. I caution other folks that go through this process to be prepared for a lot of noise and a little bit of inconvenience, but the final results were totally worth it.

I contracted Hardesty to repair my roof a year ago back in August 2018. They sent someone in September who came twice. then disappeared. Hardesty said that the worker was sick, then had fallen, then I heard nothing. Evidently, the partially completed work damaged my roof and I had much worse leaks that extensively damaged my ceilings and walls. Despite repeated phone calls, Hardesty did not get back to me--told me that they'd somehow lost track of my work order--and finally, in November, agreed to lower the cost of the initial contract to help cover repairs.
They sent someone over (Tim and Brandi) who did great work but because of scheduling difficulties, it took many many months for them to partially finish. It is now A YEAR LATER and they still have not finished repairing holes under the roof that (after multiple unanswered emails and phone calls) they now claim is not in the contract and will not repair. Needless to say, while Tim and Brandi seem like conscientious and competent workers, I would never recommend Hardesty to anyone.

So we are in a house built 3 years ago. I was out of town a few months ago when we had a big storm. My wife got home and discovered water on our dresser and floor. I investigated the attic during the next storm and it leaked although not nearly to the extent it had while I was traveling. I continued to check the attic and it leaked almost every time it stormed. Judging from the water stains in the attic, I wouldn't be surprised if it has been leaking for years. Hardesty did the original roofing on my house so I called them to investigate.
They claimed my leak originated with my chimney cap in spite of the fact the chimney is located over 10 feet away from the leaks. ( In Hardesty's defense, when they came to investigate, they did not have access to the attic so they really couldn't adequately diagnose the problem.). Finally I met with Dale and showed him the leaks and he wrote up the estimate.
I approved it and the repair guys performed the "work" on 5/21. When the crew showed up, I asked the lead where he was going to work. He indicated the wrong location. I corrected him. I got on the roof and showed them the correct location and stressed the highest leak originated 5 feet from the bottom of the valley. The duration of the repair work was less than an hour.
I had intended to check on the work progress, but to my amazement, the workers were gone before I knew it. Additionally, they did not follow up with me before their departure. Given the area of the leaks, there was no way and hour was adequate to complete the required repairs. I called the office to ask what happened and they were in the dark as well.
I knew the repairs had to be inadequate and told the office as much. The very next rain storm, the leaking continue unabated. Great company. They offered to send out Dale to check the work. What is there to check? It still leaks. Anybody know a good roofing contractor?

Over the past few years, I've replaced quite a few roofs for my house and my rental properties with various experiences and have learned quite a few lessons along the way. Hardesty Roofing came highly recommended by my rental agent who manages over 260 rental houses and told me with her other owners, over 30 roofs were replaced by Hardesty Roofing in 2018, and all of them were extremely happy with the quality and value they've received.
I am glad to report that I have joined Hardesty Roofing happy customers fan club! In December 2018 I requested quotes for two shingle roofs and one flat roof from three roofing companies. Hardesty's quotes came back in a few days as the other two dragged on for weeks. After the comparison, Hardesty Roofing was a clear winner with best price, best materials, best warranty, and best completing timeframe.
To be sure, I called owner Sam Hardesty to go over the quotes in details, he went over with me on two shingle roofs and asked me to call his head master, Dustin Akers to go over the much more complex flat roof, I was sold after the discussions. Compared to what I had done before, their cost was on average 10% cheaper than what I had paid before and with better materials (life time dimensional singles vs. 3 tab shingles), 2.5 times longer warranty, and faster (shingle roof was completed in one day).
I signed the contracts right after New Year, and they had completed three beautiful new roofs for me in three weeks despite the crazy weather we have had this year! What I love about the company was they were all about doing the right things for the customers, everyone I've encountered was friendly, flexible, and happy. I could only contributed this to the leadership from the owner and the head master.
While they were replacing the roofs, I went by to check on the progress and realized some gutters needed to be replaced and chimneys needed caps, I called the owner and head master right away and they were flexible enough to add those work in for me with very reasonable cost and still completed them within the same timeframe. To replace flat roof and gutters in my downtown apartment was a huge job which required different type of workers, on top of that, to do it in the crazy weather we just had in January seemed like an impossible mission but Dustin and his crews got it done beautifully! They've accomplished this with Dustin's great project management skills and their persistent to work around incumbent weather conditions including working over weekends to achieve great quality outcomes, and to complete it within the promised timeframe.
I am so pleased with their work! I read some of the horrible reviews and was in dismay and felt injustice with the experience I have had with Hardesty Roofing. At the same time, I could easily see how it could happen and believe or not those types of mistakes happened to other roofing companies as well. As company like this one, they are constantly dealing with big volume of work concurrently, without active customer participation could easily lead into some silly mistakes.
For my case, when I signed one of the contracts, I noticed the house number of the property was transposed in the contract so I asked the office to fix it before I signed it. If not, I could imagine the crew could go to the wrong house without knowing it. Also, when I visited my properties during the roof replacement, I ran into their QA person whose job was solely to inspect each job site to ensure its accuracy and the work quality. Hardesty Roofing did implement extra measurements to prevent mistakes and to ensure quality of work. Nowadays it is so easy to amplify what's not going well and to stay silence when things are done well.
For that reason, I would like to share my positive experience with Hardesty Roofing to recognize their good work and to hope others could benefit the same good experience like mime in the future.

Poor follow up and communications. I was initially very pleased with my new roof until the first rainstorm. I had one skylight replaced. Well done. I had two others I elected not to replace and they immediately began leaking. I've called a number of times and now after a number of weeks I still haven't had any repairs. I initially responded that I would even elect to have the skylights replaced.
Still no response. Today the gutters were to be removed so the house can be painted by another contractor. Called last week for a verification. Was told someone from the management team would respond. I've still heard nothing and the gutter removal never happened. I have a feeling they have a lot of teams but very few working projects. Better communications would made lengthy response to service needs a little more bearable. You guys can do better than this!

Our cedar shingle roof was old and needed to be replaced; however, it was not leaking. We chose Hardesty as we felt strongly that they were good and honest compared to the competition. Since being replaced, we've reported constant leaks (water literally dripping from the ceiling forming puddles on the floor) where there were none before. They refuse to call us back, and the few times we've tracked them down, they never follow through with actually fixing the issues.
We now how thousands of dollars of damage and a roof that needs to be replaced again. This company is horrible in so many ways. Do yourself a favor and don't even get a quote.

Yesterday I had Tim from Hardesty come out to install two attic fans as well as patch an area on my front porch. From the first second, I knew I was in good hands. Tim was immediately (and continually) friendly, helpful, and insightful.he clearly laid out what work he was doing and went above and beyond in explaining. He is role model.

Put the wrong color shingles on the roof-didn't match garage, pointed it out to the crew-no habla! No manager on site, threw ladder in the azalea bushes, crap left everywhere then tried to get a judgment against us because we wouldn't pay till they fixed it, they use contractors and blame everything on them. These are the same rocket scientists who tore up a tile roof on the wrong house and tried to stick the owner with a crap repair. AVOID AT ALL COSTS

I just read the review someone posted from March. That does not sound like the same company. Maybe some crew were ill. Something was off and I am sorry that person didn't experience what I did. This company was highly recommended but I was nervous a bit since we were an hour 20 south of Richmond. They measured by satellite and said it could take two days but they would make the effort to finish in one They said the crew usually started at 7:30 am but since it was a drive, they weren't sure exactly what time they would arrive.
The crew arrived promptly at 7:30 with 6 men and a driver for the waste truck. They departed at 7 pm. These people worked so hard, were courteous and cleaned up everything. It was magical to have it done so efficiently. Some of my local roofers were nearly double the price. Of course, those came with a presentation that had a video and took an hour before getting a quote which we rejected. I am more than pleased.

Quick and efficient work at an affordable price. They ended up changing their appointment due to a carryover at a previous job but made sure to call and let us know what was going on. (That's a big plus in my book). The workers are quiet and not bothersome to you. They just mind their business and get the job done (Also good to me). They could have easily gotten 5 stars if they had done a better job cleaning up afterwards.
I picked up a few handfuls of nails after they were done. They also left a skill saw in my shed, I called them but they never picked it up. So I guess that's a bonus too ha!
