Chief Roofing has replaced roofing on two different structures at two different properties for me now. They are professional and timely and do great work. I will tell you we had an issue while getting an estimate and the owner dropped everything and came to our house an made it right on the spot. This is a company that I recommend anytime someone says they need a new roof. We are getting ready to build a house and they will be doing all of our roofing, Skylight, and gutter installation!

In October - November 2021, Chief Roofing successfully completed a complicated roofing project for the Vance Villa Association, Inc. Chief Roofing removed the existing shingles and installed new shingles on 5 buildings covering 16 townhomes. Chief Roofing had to coordinate with our stucco contractor to ensure that the flashing was correctly replaced. Chief Roofing did an excellent job of communicating with us and completed the work within budget and ahead of schedule.

Chief was not the cheapest estimate I received. But they were the only ones who noticed the original roof had some installation problems. They remove the old rough, put on a new one, and I'm thrilled with the result. They left my yard clean each day. They were incredibly punctual, professional, and responsive. I had concerns about the gardens surrounding my home.

I didn't want my flowers and trees to get trampled. They took incredible care in the removal. Out of thousands of plants, they didn't disturb a single one. I swear, my yard was cleaner after they left then it was before they got here. Highly recommend them.

After hunting around for a reputable roofing company we finally decided to go with Chief. They were a great value for the work we had done. New roof with sub-deck repairs and new skylights. We were kept up to date on what the damage to the sub-deck was and felt VERY assured that it was done correctly. The crews were very knowledgeable about what they were doing and at at the end of project we felt confident that we had a GREAT new roof and that Chief would stand by their commitment to the 50 yr. warranty that was part of our package.

We collected a couple estimates for the roofing shingle total replacement for our home in Hillsborough, NC. We were most impressed by the straightforward approach and honest answers given by the owner of Chief Roofing, Inc. who met me onsite at my home. We have been in business ourselves for 38 years ourselves and to be honest we felt like a dying breed so it was good to find another company that was straightforward, honest, and delivered exactly what they offered us thru their quote.

We have been meaning to write this review since completion of our roof 5 or 6 months ago, time flies. Anyway their roofing techs and they are techs, they understand the theories and methods needed to deliver a quality roofing job, and they delivered a roofing product that shouted quality, shouted done right. I am sorry I cannot remember their logo, has to do with using true roofing techs to install roofs if quality is your goal.

They lived up to their logo, we would highly recommend Chief Roofing. One more item and for us it was just as critical as the quality of the roof, Chief Roofing techs did not harm one bush, one flower, plant or any of the several yard ornaments we have.

This company has been a great asset over the last 3 years. They have taken care of all of our roofing needs for our facility. It includes 56 houses plus 300 apartments including commons areas spanning over 15 buildings. With all this they have been able to assess and repair all issues including one that 5 other companies tried but failed. Very reliable and have always worked to get jobs done quickly.

I work in an industry where I see a lot of different vendors for a variety of home repairs. Chief was truly above and beyond what I normally see. They did an entire roof replacement, and left our home in excellent condition. There wasn't a speck of debris left behind. The support staff (scheduling etc) were friendly and helpful throughout the process, as well. I am impressed and pleased with the entirety of the process. 100% would recommend.

Chief Roofing provides superior roofing services. Marvin and company replaced our roof when we lived in Carrboro. We were extremely impressed with Marvin's detailed explanation of what his company was going to do. They completed the job thoroughly, efficiently and within the expected timeframe. Chief Roofing also installed solar attic fans and venting in our 1300 sq. ft. attic. Temperatures are noticeably cooler, and we are extremely pleased with their work. We always recommend Chief Roofing to our friends and neighbors.

I called several companies to discuss an issue with my roof but was very impressed with Mr. Barnes and his thorough explanation of the cause of my Soffit damage and how to resolve the issue. They did a great job on the repair and I'm very pleased with the results. They were recommended by some of our neighbors and I would recommend them as well.

Wow! This is the first time I've gone thru the process of replacing my roof, and Chief made it so easy! I worked with Destin, and he explained everything so thoroughly - he clearly knew what he was talking about. Out of 5 quotes I received, I went with Chief - based on a competitive quote and incredible knowledge. Within 2 weeks from the initial visit, I had a new, leak-free roof that looks incredible! I've already recommended Chief to others and will continue to do so!

Chief Roofing provided me with a great experience overall. It was my first time replacing a roof and they made my experience very pleasant. Destin was very pleasant but did not have experience with residential flat roofs and I never got a written estimate. I paid for an estimate and didn't get it.

Chief Roofing was very competent, knowledgeable and easy to work through the whole process of planning and executing a replacement roof for our house. The estimate they provided was competitive with other estimates I had received for the job and was very close to the final cost. I was told the job would take two days and it was finished in this time. The new roof looks great and I feel that it will last a long time. Hat's off to the Chief!

Chief Roofing was referred to me by a realtor. It was the best advice ever. I could not be happier with their excellent work. They installed a new roof, skylight and gutters. My roof had many complications, and they approached each with documentation, thoughtful consideration and solutions, and offered me various options to choose from. I particularly appreciated their detailed explanations and patience with my questions and concerns. Involving me in decision-making is one way they exhibited respect for me as a client. (As a senior woman, this is something I do not often receive from contractors.) I never felt they tried to push certain solutions for their cost benefit, but gave me choices mindful of my budget concerns.

Across the board, the management/admin team was considerate, friendly, and helpful, and deserves special kudos for excellent communication. Working from 7:30am-6:30pm, the team of installers were hard-working, punctual, courteous, and noteworthy for their efforts to keep my property clean. They not only protected my shrubs and plants, but cleaned up debris, blowing my deck and walkways each evening. I especially appreciated that they included a young woman among their team of six. Management was frequently present on site, offering support and conferring with the installers on issues they had identified. My husband and I talked to several neighbors in our community and received recommendations for different roofing companies. We also had many roofing companies knock on our door with offers of 'checking with our insurance company' to see if we could get our roof replaced for free which apparently is done if there's storm damage. We had no damage. just the original 20+ year-old roof.

We decided to contact Chief Roofing based on one neighbor's positive report. Destin Barnes came out as promised to look over our roof. He was prepared with roofing samples and descriptive materials to allow us to weigh the pros and cons of which roofing to select. He spent considerable time with us explaining all.

It's just a roof, right? Not with them What a pleasure! they were timely. Efficient and super detailed. Can't say enough about them. I've been doing business with Melvin Barnes, owner of Chief Roofing for twenty years. A true professional who does quality work with integrity and honesty.

I recently met with three different roofing companies after finding out that we had roof damage. Chief Roofing was the final company I met with and ten minutes into my conversation with the owner, Melvin, I knew I found my roofing company. Melvin was the only one to tell me that my gutters were incorrectly installed, potentially causing water damage to my soffits.

He was the only one to mention that my satellite dish was nailed through the roofing deck, something that should never be done, as this could cause a leak down the road. After detailing their installation process at length - and telling me how most companies don't handle the installation correctly, either because of lack of knowledge or experience, or to take shortcuts along the way - I had total confidence that my roof would be installed the right way. Additionally, Chief Roofing is right here in Hillsborough and has been in business for more than 30 years.

All of the roofers told me that my landscaping would be a mess when they were done - when I expressed concern about this, Melvin had the crew throw all of the old roofing material over the back, avoiding this issue. When they were finished that night, my yard and beds were immaculate - you would have never guessed I had my roof replaced that day. A neighbor who used a different company found literally hundreds of nails in his lawn and beds with a magnetic nail finder.

I borrowed his finder and after searching for more than an hour, found only a small handful of nails in my beds. About the damage, because I had storm damage to one shingle, and this shingle couldn't be replaced (defective CertainTeed Horizon shingle like many in the neighborhood), my insurance company replaced the entire roof.

The level of professionalism and value that Chief Roofing brings to a job is unparalleled. As a career builder I can say that I am truly impressed with the job they did for my mother in Burlington. She had nothing but positive things to say about all aspects of the job. We had a leak in our roof around the chimney, so I found Chief Roofing thru some good recommendations on NextDoor. I called and an estimator came out a couple days later. The invoice for a deposit was transmitted quickly, I paid online an easy and convenient payment option, and the roofer was here 2 days later. He worked for several hours, custom crafting a chimney cap, and repair was completed that day.

A few days later, our area had that huge rainstorm, and there were NO LEAKS! Everyone I spoke to during this process was very pleasant and easy to work with. Chief Roofing was prompt, professional, and did a great job.

Chief Roofing recently replaced our roof. They gave us a lot of information about roofing and answered any questions we had. They sent a large crew and completed the job in 2 days and the cleanup was very thorough! Very efficient and professional!

Beware of this company. I have Select Home Warranty and they sent Chief Roofing to come out and replace 2 shingles. The home was recently inspected and the roof had no leaks and was in good repair. The tech came to the door and simply said he was there to replace the shingles. This was to be covered by my warranty for a $60 service charge. On the next day, I received a bill from Chief Roofing for $402 due in 4 days.

When I called Select Warranty, they told me that because Chief Roofing stated that they repaired a leak, the repair was not covered. At no time did the tech ever inform me of any leak before he started the work, and he never informed me of a leak when he told me he was done. Actually, I think a leak repair would have taken longer than the 20 minutes that the tech was at my home.

I thought there was something suspicious because other than the tech letting me know that he was there and telling me he was done, there was no other conversation. When I asked him who I pay the service charge to, he only said I would receive a bill. I really feel like this type of thing is standard practice for this company. I highly DON'T recommend them ever. I am now seeking legal advice because I am being billed for service that I did not authorize.

Chief Roofing looked at the roof of one of my rental homes. It had been reroofed before I bought it and leaked a lot. Chief pointed out several deficiencies and made several relatively minor repairs that fixed the problems. I needed a new roof on my own residence and quotes from a couple of highly rated companies. Chief Roofing gave me a good price. It's winter, and it took a while for the shingles to come in and for there to be time to do the job.

This week they did the whole roof in two days. I'm very happy, with one exception--in one of my gutters I found a lot of debris that they overlooked when they were cleaning up. It's a great roof!

Top shelf company, total professional isms. The did a job for me a few years back it was a large roof. I didn't get to the Job until about 2 in the afternoon and I was pissed because I thought they didnt show up. Upon inspection of the roof they had already come and gone. This was a tear off of the old and a complete new install. Three of us could. not find one trace they had been there other then a new roofing Job.

Not one scrap of anything. We still talk about it today. We spent over an hour looking for a loose nail and bet each other one of us would find something. This is a company you want to hire and we have used them several more times even on some complicated metal roofs.

Roof and gutter replacement. Most prepared and detailed discussion of the issues and resolution to our needs. Went beyond our initial thoughts to provide a complete solution. Stopped the leak at no charge BEFORE any contract was signed. Gave us a very competitive estimate and there were no unexpected charges on the final invoice. They responded to my inquiries within a reasonable timeframe.

Avoid this company. They overcharge for minor jobs, except if you think more than $200/hour is appropriate.

We recently sold our home here in Hillsborough and the inspection report identified some roof items that needed to be corrected. I never used a roofer before so I went to the internet and was lucky enough to find Chief Roofing Inc. I called, spoke to Janet, explained my urgent need and the next day Mr. Melvin Barnes - the owner, came to my house. I showed him the inspection report with photos, he climbed onto the roof and examined the items in the report. Mr. Barnes is extremely knowledgable, kind and a very wise man.

After hearing what he had to say he put my wife & I at ease regarding some of the claims in the report. We made a verbal contract for his mechanics to perform minor repairs the following day. He understood that we were short on time. Mr. Barnes himself came to my house that day and performed the work. Mr. Barnes is the founder and owner of Chief Roofing - He has several roofing mechanics working for him but they were either busy or on other jobs.

In order to make good on the promise he made to us, Mr. Barnes stepped up and performed the work himself. One of the items was to clear debris off the gutter screens. At the time he made the roof repairs, the blower he needed was on another truck. Mr. Barnes returned later the same day - in the rain - and blew all the debris off the the gutter screens.

He also blew debris off our walkways and front and side porches. It is rare nowadays to come across a professional man with the high work ethic of Mr. Barnes. He represents the best of what contractors are supposed to convey - he knows his trade, understands and is sensitive and caring to his customer's needs and goes out of the way to keep his word.

We plan to move away but if we were staying I would contract with Mr. Barnes to replace the roof and not even consider another estimate. When performing this type of work it is advisable to avoid the low bidder. Chief roofing is outstanding in every way. Top notch!
