For more than 80 years, J P Hunter Co Inc has been looking after the East End of Long Island's roofing needs. The company was born when John P Hunter Sr was discharged from the air force, a highly decorated veteran following time spent in a World War II prison camp. He arrived home to Long Island and near-immediately set about starting a family and also a business.
JP Hunter Co Inc is a certified solid vinyl siding installer using only the most proven manufactures such as Certainteed. We were the first to offer the very popular designer solid vinyl cedar impression. This material gives the great look of natural cedar with zero maintenance. Another popular siding product we install is called HardiePlank. This is a composite material, fiber cement, that comes in many varied colors and sizes and is virtually impervious to the weather.

These guys were great. We started communicating about this work just a the pandemic shut everyone down, but despite that they stayed with me, helped coordinate with the solar guts, helped coordinate with the carpenter (both things were not their obligation). Kerry in the front office was wonderful. this was a small job but Brian came out to make sure I was happy.
I am an architect and had one small detail I wanted changed, and they came back, long after they had left the job and did what I asked. All and all and excellent experience. I would recommend them without hesitation.

Roof was replaced with GAF products. Very professional and experienced workers and excellent workmanship. Job was finished on time as promised. I worked with Brian Billingham and his Assistant, Kerry. This was an outstanding customer service experience. I recommend JP Hunter without any reservations.

EVERYONE STAY AWAY FROM JIM HUNTER ROOFING! I had my roof done 4 years ago by them & EVERY YEAR since there is a new area of the house where the water has come in & my painter had to reSheetrock, spackle & paint. It has been a nightmare. And Jim NEVER has returned a phone call or spoken w us. We are now starting a lawsuit to get our money back. NIGHTMARE! NIGHTMARE!

STAY AWAY, bad experience I needed a full roof build and they contracted it out to another company that not only changed the pitch on the roof but Brian from JP Hunter put my job on the back burner and I waited two to three weeks for them to finish(and never gave them a hard time at all about it) Then they wanted to complete my job after it had rained for three days straight and the wood and tar paper was completely wet!
I refused! Now, I am stuck with a roof that has been built so much lower than It was(I didn't realize at the time, as I am not into construction). What a mistake and unprofessional experience!
