Lon Smith Roofing & Construction

TL, DR: Lon Smith Roofing (LSR) was thorough in their inspection, assigning of contractors and quality control. I hope you have the same experience when you hire them. Also be careful to put the correct address when sending payment via USPS mail. They are on E. Waggoman St not the opposite. Lon Smith roofing came recommended to me by my mother-in-law Donna Cantu who works for the company and I don't regret the decision of hiring them to install a much needed new roof.

The process was long as I wanted to have this service completed when my time and money were right. I was assigned Bart S.when I was referred in July of 2021. He guided me through the following; the preliminary process of a roof inspection, helping me select an option that was more affordable and practical then what I wanted, the selection of a roofing shingle color that would match my neighborhood, preparing approval for the Home Owners Association and how to properly starting the insurance claim.

I waited a few months after our first meeting for the right time in my schedule as well as waiting for the approval of an unresponsive Home Owners Association (HOA) by the name of Wind Ridge Estates under the management of Goodwin & Co. Around October of 2021, I decided to proceed with the next step as I was not going to wait any longer for my HOA and their management company to respond.

Twice was enough and so I scheduled an appointment with my insurance company claims adjuster. Their findings were exactly the same as Lon Smith Roofing and very quickly approved to pay for a new roof. Note that Bart S. was armed with pictures of damage from the roof and other evidence in case they said no. The approval process was also made simple by my insurance company and construction could begin.

I was called by the LSR office to schedule an install and we decided on December of 2021. They worked around my schedule and were able to send the contractors on a day I could be home to receive materials. They were respectful about the Christmas and New Year holidays and didn't leave materials in the way of my driveway for long in case I had company. LSR instructs all of its contractors to take the time to protect and cover the areas they will be removing roofing material and nailing.

They used tarps that stretched all around my home in the front, back and side yards. The contractors even took a large piece of foam cushion and covered the compressor of my air conditioner. Although the contracts LSR signs leaves LSR harmless to damage during the installation of a new roof they still take responsibility of ensuring to not deliberately damage items around my home.

The precautions taken caught most of the material removed. The process took from 7AM to 4PM, an entire day of work with a large team of 6. Around 1PM half of the team left to another job, still the work was done with quality. I was greeted by a project inspector of LSR around 2PM just 2 hours before the job finished and he walked me around the property ensuring I was happy with the quality of work.

I was embarrassed that I didn't pick up all of the dog poop before so while they were cleaning up I did that quickly. They also cleaned up very well by walking around the entire house with large magnets to ensure all nails were retrieved. The payment process was tricky but LSR was very understanding as I had to have my mortgage company sign the first of two insurance checks.

It was a pain especially since it took months for my mortgage company to endorse my check. I did mess up after I received the check and sent it to LSR on W. Waggomon St. instead of the correct E. Waggomon St. Special thank to the Ft. Worth Post Office for helping me correct my error. My roof looks amazing especially since the old one was original to the home. I do highly recommend Lon Smith Roofing as the process was made simple especially during a pandemic.

Lon Smith Roofing has been great during the whole process. Clayton was very friendly and knowledgeable during the initial meeting and David was also very friendly and thorough with the inspection and walk through. I called Lon Smith Roofing and their inspector came out the next day. He inspected the roof, wrote up a detailed report as to when the damage occurred, worked with my insurance company's adjuster and within a few days, their crew came out and completed replacing the roof in 1 day. They left the area clean - absolutely no mess. I was really anxious about the 'process' but, they made it easy and understandable and now, I have a 40-year warranty roof. I was impressed with their entire organization from the initial contact with their inspector to the doff personnel.

Bart Slack was the sales representative and went the extra mile to help us get a new new roof on after a wind and hail storm. The whole process was smooth and easy. DO NOT do business with Lon Smith Roofing! They will say what they can to earn your business, but when they have you locked in on their contract, the quality of service and care goes down hill. We first worked with Paul Stewart, the estimator. He was very kind at first. He gave the whole speech about the company being in business for several years.

He came to me with copies of the company's certificates, licenses, insurance, anything you can think of just to make Lon Smith look good. Being that he was an older man, I thought he actually cared about providing exceptional service to a family and their home. Boy I was wrong! Paul did an estimate for the hail damage on our fence along with the roofing.

He told me had would send that information in to the insurance company and help us with getting that fix. PAUL WAS NOT CLEAR WITH ME THAT LON SMITH ROOFING DOES NOT POWER WASH AND RE-STAIN FENCES. Instead, he gave me a guy's number and told me to reach out to him. When I spoke to that person, he informed me that Paul told him that I filed an insurance claim, and for him to work with the dollar amount from the insurance company, and to figure something out.

After speaking with that person, he did not feel comfortable to move forward. I reached out to Paul again and asked him if there was another company he would recommend me to. Paul had the audacity to google companies to send me pictures of their numbers. Had I known that Lon Smith did not provide service in that area, I would have went with another company.

I know other companies would appreciate our business not like this company. Paul Stewart and Lon Smith Roofing is not transparent about business! We had our roof installation done on November 19, 2021. The inspector David Grassmann and the crew under their chief Bethany Sanchez provided no better service than Paul. The crew threw trash and debris all over my flowerbed.

A large amount of nails were left in our yard. Sad to say, David is not a sincere person either. He will tell you a story about replacing a customer's roof, but you can tell that he's told that story several times to make himself sound like a good guy. 16 weeks after Lon Smith Roofing installed our roof, the wooden side panel of our home has fallen out.

As you can see from the picture, the wooden panel touches the roof line that was worked on our home. The same inspector David Grassmann came out to look at the damage. He made an assumption that someone removed the panel and tried to hammer it back to place. He said he can tell by the nails on the wood. That is ridiculous consider Lon Smith Roofing's crew have been the only ones on our roof! David put in a work order to get that repair, including that information of someone removing and replacing that panel, and the work order got denied.

Of course it would be denied! David lied on the work order. Nobody removed and tired to replace the panel. How can he tell me damages did not occurred from the crew, when he wasn't even up on the roof. Lon Smith Roofing needs to be held accountable for the damages. Customers should not have fear hiring a contractor, with an end result, that company ends up creating more damages. Anyone reading this review who are thinking about hiring Lon Smith Roofing. look somewhere else! Companies like this do not deserve your business and hard earned money!

These folks were recommended by our realtor and I could. It have been happier with their services. Professional, prompt service and saved us an entire roof repair buyers were trying to get us to replace in their offers to buy our house. As anyone can tell you how expensive replacing an entire roof can be especially with the current economic crisis of supply and demand (thanks pandemic era) our roof repair with this company saved us thousands of dollars and even accepted payment upon closing of our house so we didn't have to worry about paying upfront with estimates and the final bill which was only hundreds of dollars. This could not have been a smoother transition and business deal. I miss Texas!

Lon Smith did a great job from the initial contact for inspection of my roof, and all the way to the completion of the job. Paul was very professional and upfront with the cost of the repair, answered questions about materials and the options available, and ensured I obtained the best service available. Any time I had questions about the completed installation, Paul and Miguel were able to answer questions quickly and get any issues resolved. I appreciate their professionalism and I would recommend Lon Smith to friends and co-workers.

If you've lived in North Texas long, you've probably had your roof repaired or replaced, usually due to hail and/or high winds. I've had at least 4 roofs in 2 different houses the best I can recall. In Texas, roofing companies are not licensed like plumbers and electricians. So due diligence is recommended when you need a roofing company.

The first thing I did was call my insurance agent. She gave me a list of 3 or 4 that she has had experience with and so the search begins. I ended up with Lon Smith Roofing in Fort Worth for several reasons. First and perhaps foremost, they've been in business since 1974. Second their BBB report is exemplary. Third they are a recommended company on several internet sources.

I first met with Thomas who provided an estimate for repairs. This had to be compared to what my insurance estimator had provided but there were no issues there. After a couple of conversations with Thomas, I was convinced that an upgraded shingle was worth the extra money. After speaking with my insurance agent, I also discovered I would be saving a considerable amount on my home owner's policy.

Enough to cover the cost of the upgrade in 2 years! Not to mention, less likely to be damaged in the future. Another savings (deductibles!) Another surprise was it is quieter. One morning I went outside to get the paper and found it was raining.hard. I didn't even hear it inside. Thomas was easy to work with. I was able to schedule the installation when I was going to be out of town.

You don't want to be inside your house when a new roof is installed. After the installation was complete, I found the yard clean and free of debris. The flower beds were protected although I did find one flower stem bent. I then received a call and visit from David who was the on-site supervisor and quality control inspector. He asked to come inside to make sure none of the vents (HVAC, water heater) to the roof had come loose during the installation.

They hadn't. I showed him a few cracks and nail pops that had appeared. He took pictures and had repairmen out to repair them the next week! All I can say is that this is a reputable company that is easy to work with from both the customer and the insurance company's perspective. I can easily recommend Lon Smith Roofing.

When your neighbor recommends a service- they must be great! Indeed it was. From the time I called Lon Smith Roofing to getting my roof repaired it took no time at all. Clayton completed his inspection and provided a detailed explanation and options for our leaky roof as well as for our second floor ventilation issue. Within days we had a detailed quote, reasonable pricing, repairs, new ventilation system and piece of mind. The crew took great care and did a wonderful job. We are extremely satisfied and will call Lon Smith Roofing for all future needs.

Roofing crew nocked water heater and furnace vent loose and didn't even bother to check after finishing roof leaving attic exposed to carbon monoxide. Called field inspector assigned to my roof Install, told me he would be by later that day(Fri) and reconnecting show or call so reconnected myself. Steven finally shows up to collect check (and put on a good face as though he followed up with his crew)Tuesday with 20 point Inspection sheet but never did proper follow thru with his crew.

When I mentioned vent for water heater and furnace being nocked loose he made excuses. Make sure if you use Lon Smith roofing that you check your vents before they leave your property very hard to get roofing company to follow thru. **Gary from Lon Smith roofing called me and apologized for the way things were handled and came out within an hour and addressed our concerns and made sure everything was taken care of. I highly recommend Lon Smith Roofing because they go above & beyond expectation to ensure their customer is happy. -My Salesperson, Paul, was the only one from three different companies, to point out my roof needed additional ventilation. He was very knowledgeable & thorough during his presentation ensuring I understood the details so I could make an informed decision. -The experienced Installation Crew completed the job in one day.

They started early by protecting my landscape and worked late leaving my property in good condition. -Mario, the Project Inspector, arrived at the beginning of the installation and returned later to ensure the project was on target. Although there was a materials delivery hiccup, it was quickly resolved to my satisfaction. Upon completion, during the 20 point inspection appointment, Mario even painted a black vent grey so it would match the rest of the vents! Lon Smith Roofing was easy to work with, honest and had my best interest in mind.

My wife and I built our dream home in the fall of 2020. Our house got hit by some pretty decent sized hail last week and I was concerned about the damage to our brand new roof. 4 different roofers were at our doorstep the next day telling me to file and claim and we needed a new roof. Garrett and Lon Smith came recommended from a client of mine so I gave him a call. Garrett came out within 2 days and looked at our roof and was extremely honest with me.

I am very satisfied with the entire re-roofing process of our home by Lon Smith Roofing. The salesman, Ben, provided excellent customer service. He was punctual, knowledgeable, and very helpful with the insurance claim and adjustment process. Im happy with the roof they did. I told the salesman i have a dog they left nails all over my patio i picked up 30 before i could let my dog out. But the real issue i have is the roof was very expensive with a 2 yr Warrenty come on thats sad for all it cost

My experience working with Lon Smith Roofing was very professional and enjoyable. The quote process was transparent and quick. My sales representative was open and honest about my options. The installation process was seamless. There was an inspector onsite and available throughout the process to ensure I had all my questions answered and the job was being done correctly. The only negative was there was some trash and nails left on my patio cover which eventually made it's way into my yard that I had to clean up; very minor.

From sales to customer service to on-site crew, Lon Smith roofing has been excellent. They have been professional and the site was left spotless. There was a spot where the house trim was rotted out and they replaced it on their own. I would highly recommend.

I felt I could trust a company that has been in business many, many years. I was right! They did a great job on my roof and were great folks to work with. They truly exceeded my expectations.

While the roofing portion of my insurance claim and experience with Lon Smith went rather smoothly, their ability to handle the window replacement portion of my claim was abysmal. Three confirmed appointments where the contractor no showed and one day where an unidentified contractor showed up, with no identification, couldn't connect himself to Lon Smith, etc. my window is still not fixed and has taken over three months to attempt to resolve. Ultimately, we have ended our agreement with no remorse or reparations from Lon Smith and I now must go source another vendor to complete the repairs to my home. Lon Smith has done work for my family for over 30 years but will no longer be servicing our needs due to the absolute lack of concern or respect during this unfortunate experience.

I thought my roof was damaged in the recent storm. Mitch Branick from Lon Smith came out and inspected. Found the problem, no roof replacement needed. I have dealt with this company before and have found them to be honest and do good work. Would highly recommend.

This company may or may not be a capable and dependable roofing company. What is dependable is that EVERY TIME I pause listening to WBAP (820 AM) on iHeartRadio due to a phone call or other interruption, I have to sit through their dumb commercial before I get the radio feed back. This has nearly completely ruined the radio experience. I have no idea how WBAP allows this, but as a Ft Worth business owner this 'bully pulpit' ad approach is a huge turn off and I would never use this company.

During some heavy rain in August, what turned out to be a multi-year leak in my roof caused a portion of the ceiling in a bedroom to collapse, allowing water to drip on furniture. I called as soon as I discovered it. Even though it was after regular business hours, they sent someone to patch the roof within an hour. I turned to them again to do the work prescribed by the insurance adjuster and am very pleased with the results. Everyone with whom I dealt was professional, courteous, and thorough. This was not my first experience with this company, and I will continue to call in them when needed.

Lon Smith Roofing did a fantastic job replacing our roof. From beginning to end, our contractor, Beau was professional, knowledgeable and responsive. They gave us a competitive quote for the replacement cost, stayed on schedule and remained on the job until the work was complete. When the roofers arrived on Day 1, they covered our pool, hot tub and everything else that might get damaged.

They worked hard into the evening to get the job done in a timely manner. Did the yard get messy? Absolutely! Was it noisy? Of course! Embrace it! That's part of the job. Personally, I enjoyed hearing the sounds of progress, along with the music and the chatter of happy workers. When the new roof was installed and that part of the job finished, my yard was clean and damage-free. no nails and no trash.

A few days later they came back to install the gutters and finalize the job. The color roof and gutters complimented our brick color perfectly. In fact, the gutters are so similar in color they fade into the background and look great! Payment was also easy. Pat, in their Ft Worth office, was easy to work with and the final payment was correct. I highly recommend LSR if you want a reputable roofing company with professional employees.

They probably aren't the cheapest but you get what you pay for so if want it done right, call them. Kudos to the roofing crew - the boots on the roof - because they did a great job. I highly recommend LSR if you want a reputable roofing company that will make sure the job is done right. (and no, we're both "Smiths" but we're not related :) )

Everyone that we worked with was polite, respectful, professional, and competent. it was as good of an experience as a roof replacement could be. They were willing to do an initial inspection of the roof and have someone available to meet with the insurance adjustor when he did his inspection. They worked directly with our insurance company. The inspectors were great about keeping me up to date on what was going on. They cleaned up all of their mess and finished the job in a timely manner. If we need another roof in the future, they will be our first call.

This is the only company I have ever written a review on, as most people do not live up to my expectations. This is the 2nd time I have used Lon Smith Roofing, the first one was about nine years ago for another hail damaged roof. The office staff, inspector, supervisor, and work crew could not have been more knowledgeable, customer service oriented, friendly helpful, professional, and courteous.

They were and are a great company to work with, especially Charles Hill (estimator). I highly recommend using their services, as I will do so myself if the situation arises (hopefully not to soon though).

I have to give a low rating because when someone says they finished the job - you expect it to be done. My roof repair was minor. You could look out the window and see the drip edge that was suppose to be installed was not there. They sent someone out to inspect, agreed the work was not completed - then much later sent someone to finish the work.

Our roof was recently replaced by Lon Smith Roofing. We chose Lon Smith Roofing after researching and having 3 other companies give us an estimate. We felt comfortable choosing them because they provided the Supplier "LIEN WAIVER" Letter, the general liability insurance certificate, and financial stability letter. They are certified installers, have been in business for many years, and were the only company not to require cash up front. Jon Parish did not ask to see what our insurance offered first and provided an estimate that nearly matched what our insurance company agreed to pay.

We are very impressed with their level of professionalism and this includes Jon, Jannett, David, and Lois. Their work and quality inspection walk through were excellent. We highly recommend them.

The company just finished replacing our shingles after a hail storm. The company did a great job. I used Lon Smith because it was recommended by my insurance agent. I was a little leery of that. But I'll tell you they did a fantastic job did what they said they were going to do and did a fantastic job I would recommend them to anyone

I want to take a minute to write a review for Lon Smith roofing. I recently had them replace my roof and I couldn't be MORE PLEASED from start to finish I felt like they really cared and they did an excellent job!

I called this company to come out and give me an estimate I then chose a different company to install my roof while that new other company was putting the roof on they went on lunch break and Lon Smith roofer came out got on my roof without permission he had no right being on my roof after the estimate was done and dragged his feet on my roof and scaffold the roof shingles the new ones then left me a card saying that company that was putting my roof on scaffold it and I better check my roof what a scammer do not trust this company when you go with somebody else they would try to damage your roof my neighbor watch them do it and then he also leaves his business card telling me the scuffling was done on my roof by the company that was installing it

We just had our roof installed by Lon Smith Roofing and I couldn't be happier. If you need a new roof, call Matt at LSR, he's great to work with and helped us out so much with getting info for our insurance company.
Matt's crew arrived at 8am and hit the roof like a hurricane. It took them about an hour to completely remove all the old shingles. It was amazing to watch them work. I really cannot recommend these guys enough. The best part of the whole experience was they replaced my whole roof in 1 day!

We have relied on Lon Smith Roofing (LSR) twice since 2010 to replace a hail-damaged roof on our home of nearly 25 years. In both cases, we have been more than entirely satisfied with the cost & quality of materials used, workmanship, and timeliness of project completion. Each member of the LSR team was professional. We would not hesitate to turn to LSR if we suffered another event requiring replacement of our roof. Likewise, we enthusiastically refer all readers of this review to consider LSR for their roofing needs.

We had to wait for quite a while for the work to be started, but it was understandable due to the number of damaged houses in our area after a recent storm. Prior to signing up with Lon Smith we were told how the work would be completed, such as protection of landscape, keeping a clean work area, cleaning up upon completion, etc. but that's not exactly what transpired.

They made no effort to protect the landscape, the non-work related trash (i.e. fast food wrappers, drink bottles, etc) piled up to the point that it started blowing around the neighborhood, they threw roofing materials off the roof and punctured my trash can and tore a hole in my outdoor grill cover, they unscrewed the satellite dish and let it "dangle" by the cable for a couple of days and it didn't work thereafter (had to call the service provider and have them fix it), they completed the roof on the house and promptly sent me an invoice without re-roofing the shed and replacing the base plate on the weather vane (which were itemized work items on the contract), then after a week or so they returned to finish the work.

Upon completion, they literally "dragged" a magnet around the perimeter of the house to pick up nails, but it has been easy for my 2-year-old to find numerous nails throughout the yard. The finished product seems to be good but it didn't progress the way they had explained prior to signing a contract.

Thank you, Lon Smith, for our roof install and stellar customer service. Garrett Seals came to our home and walked us through the costs for a new roof, including breaking down our insurance claim process. Our roof was promptly installed in one day. Although we needed a minor repairs to our vaulted ceiling, Lon Smith handled the repairs - at their cost - graciously and promptly.

Following our recommendation, our neighbors have also used Lon Smith. Thank you for helping us navigate the roof installation process; hopefully we won't have to use you again soon, but if we do, we'll know who to call!

The people from Lon Smith, from the sales rep thru the man who helped with clean up and everyone involved were great. Extremely thorough roof workers put in very long hours in oppressive heat and were always polite and courteous. The roof looks great too!

Our house was hit by a tornado a few months back. It was right before the E5 hit Garland and Rowlett. I was still waiting to hear back from my insurance claim when tornados tore through North of Dallas. I thought it would be impossible to get my minor repairs done at a time when every roofing contractor was being called to an area of total devastation. Lon Smith took my call and within 48 hours had an Esitmator on site climbing my roof.

Their estimate was much lower than expected and within a week they were on site and completed. I felt terrible tying up a contractor with my minor repairs when two towns over they were completely devastated. Lon Smith assured me they were not pulling resources from that area and were able to meet the needs of both of our communities. I pray this is my first and last experience with a tornado, but I can tell you I would call Lon Smith again without hesitation.

Had a roof leak on a 16x12 shed that turned into a rotten deck. Needed a full reroofing and redecking in the rotten sections. Lon Smith Roofing was out within 8 days of our call even though we had 4 days of rain in between. Totally professional and on time when they said they would be. Scope of work was performed exactly how they said it would. Great job on the roof and great customer service with a thank you card sent by mail and a follow up call to ask how we felt the job went. We had nothing but positive results from our call to Lon Smith.

There I was, in the midst of destruction. Roof missing. Called lon smith. Several times later was told very busy no sales folks available. Was told by a friend with same problem that lon smith came out same day then again with follow up and decided to go w/another company due to price. - I called and lady asked where do you live. All the other times I said Haltom but this time I said Colleyville.

Lady said we have a rep that can be there same afternoon. Gave her address then called back on wife's phone and same question only Haltom, oh nope we don't have anyone available. - I received a call from the field guy and he said I cannot find your address on the map.
