Worse experience ever. Be careful when buying from this company. I came back to exchange some materials that I have purchased. Instead of making the exchange, they make you refund it and then buy the parts that you need as a new transaction. This way, they can charge you the 20% restocking fees on the stuff that you returned. WTH, really? you could have just let me do the exchange. Never again, stay away from them.

I've been to Ford Wholesale now for four roofing jobs. It's always been a matter of convenience for me since they live near my primary residence. It's always felt like a bit of a low-budget operation to me, but I just need the materials, so no big deal. They just rubbed me the wrong way today. They have a 20% restocking fee, which I get. They've got forklifts and fuel, and the guy that drives around with a fake head on his forklift.
I returned some flashings that I didn't need. The total was $32. I asked if they could waive the 20% restocking fee since all they have to do is just walk them back and put them on the shelves. No forklift, no dude with a fake head. The girl with the tattoos behind the counter just wasn't very pleasant. She basically indicated that that's just the way it was as long as I'm working with them. That's their policy.
I still needed to order 28 squares of architectural shingles, but I just didn't want to give them my business. I left and went over to RSG on Kearny Villa Road and ordered my shingles there. My sense is that since they've been in business since the 1950s, they've become complacent. There are so many other options for purchasing materials in San Diego County that I just can't see myself going there again. Ironically, it began as a seven dollar restocking fee, but revealed itself as an outdated business model that doesn't appear to have its customers best interests at heart.

These guys delivered over 100 bundles of shingles to my investment property for a new roof. Over half of the bundles had been previously opened and mishandled having bent, torn and worn edges. The roofers spent a whole lot more time culling thru the crap to get good pieces to finish the roof. When addressed with sales guy at Ford he said yea I know.
We sent half opened and mishandled bundles and half new. It's the only way we can get rid of the old stuff. Ok, so I have had over 20 roofs put on and this is a first. Not only did they send me half crap, they did it on purpose. My roofers were pissed, the General contractor was pissed. The roof had to be done in one day and this made it a much longer day. Never again.

Went over to Ford Wholesale today: I had done my research etc yet still had a lot of questions as I am going to be doing my own roof. Didn't get the guys name that helped me yet he was patient and took the time to offer tips and advice and his prices were very competitive. Ford does not do roofs etc they just supply contractors and do it yourself home owners like myself.
It is a warehouse set up and I will be using them to supply and deliver my roofing materials. No up selling no pressure just facts and price quotes. Very helpful and knowledgeable of all roofing products.
