John (the owner) and his crew were awesome. John came to our house and did a thorough evaluation to see what we needed. His guys were respectful and did the job sooner than anticipated. We had a new, beautiful roof in just over a day. The estimate was accurate. He gave helpful tips to my husband to insure the longevity of the roof. Often times, the work crew for a business is awesome, but the customer service people are awful.

I have to give a shout out to Chris, who handles all the "back end" work for Shinn roofing. She was professional, patient and dedicated, sending all the photos of our old and new roof to us during and after work hours. Hands down would recommend Shinn roofing!

Excellent crew. Hard workers. We knew after walking it down there was going to be a lot of wood work required and boy was there. about 2500 square feet of plywood and over a dozen rafters. They updated me every step of the way even asking me to go up and look so they could explain clearly what was needed and why. They still completed the entire job in 2 days, cleaned up perfectly, and the pricing was right.

The Shinn Group just finished my "down to the plywood" roof as well as the new addition roof. His men corrected all the deficiencies as well as explain them to me. They were timely, professional and fast. Quick estimate! They give a 5 year warranty and the material manufacturer gives 10 so I feel good about it. Cleanup was great and the price was good. Just had a thunderstorm and I didn't see and leaks. (Happy!) We recommend John Shinn Roofing for new work or renovations.

A year later and still have not received my $200 deposit. And I see others have had the same problem. I don't know how they stay in business treating people like this.

An update on this company is that almost a year later I still didn't receive a refund of my $200 deposit. I contacted them by phone and left a message and also sent an email requesting the refund. This is even though on a rebuttal to my Angies List review John said he would return my deposit. He also lied about all the details. No wonder half the reviews on yelp are 1 star. Do not consider using this business for your roofing needs.

John and his crew arrived at my home a little after 7am and just left around 6:30pm they completely removed all of the shingles and underlayment and fans. They than put a brand new roof on and my husband and I could not be anymore pleased. They worked hard did the job right. There price was hands down the best I received after having 6 other local Roofing companies come to give a estimate.

When they came to do the estimate the worker actually climbed up on my roof took pictures and provided accurate and knowledgeable information. We were worrying we could not afford to get the roof replaced and the best news we received was that John shinn actually has a financing option. They are honest and reliable highly recommend.

Purchased a home in poconos a year ago that needed work and although we did most ourselves there were big jobs that professionals were needed. This company was totally professional from the beginning and went above an beyond from the initial inspection of our roof until its replacement. John was honest when he first took a look stating that we didn't need to replace right away but the roof was older (which we knew) and if not replaced soon could cause bigger problems down the road.

The business is also family run with his Wife taking care of all the scheduling and paperwork, she was wonderful to deal with as well. We decided to have the roof done and were very happy we did. It looks beautiful and we know we have nothing to worry about now for quite some time. Would recommend this company to anyone.

John installed a new roof on our vacation home near White Haven and did an awesome job. He was one of the few contractors that responded promptly for an estimate, and was impressed with his references. John and his office staff kept in touch with us regarding scheduling and gave us good peace of mind while he worked on the house sending photo and text updates, providing options when he encountered rot in the roof below the many layers of previous roofing material, and went out of his way to do a great job cleaning up. The roof looks fantastic. No issues with leaks. We are very pleased with the work that John did.

Unreliable and undependable. John Schinn has major anger issues. Once paid, do not expect a callback. Office is personable yet totally incompetent. Save yourselves a headache, contract someone else!

On Wednesday, June 22, 2016 my wife called to set up an appointment for an estimate. She spoke with John's wife who also serves as his secretary. She told us that she would "call back Friday to set up an appointment for an estimate." Friday, June 24, 2016, came and went without a phone call back. We simply shrugged and let it go, figuring that there are other roofers -- including the other two we have previously gotten quotes from. Then, this past Friday, July 01, 2016, we got our call to set up the appointment -- 9 days after we were expecting it.

Initially I was hesitant but my wife said we should give hem the benefit of the doubt. The appointment was setup for Sunday, July 03, 2016 between 9:30 - 10:00 a.m. Now, I work late nights -- usually getting home around 3:15 a.m. and going to bed around 4:30 a.m. -- but was willing to go without sleep for the hopes of getting a better estimate. At around 11:13 a.m. on Sunday, July 03, 2016, after receiving not so much as a phone call and having no one drive past our house, we decided that enough was enough. My wife called and canceled the appointment stating that "we would no longer need their services."
