This place deserves no stars! Honestly i have nothing good to say about the company itself or the staff (inside the office). Literally the worst company someone could hire/ work for. Pete is so unprofessional! Do not waste your time or money with this company, the worst!

I called to get a quote and not only were they prompt, courteous as well as profession, they followed up. I ended up refereed them to my son for solar. They are waiting on the training for the specific solar tiles and had tremendous integrity to let us know they were not ready to move forward yet. I was referred to the Scudder by a friend that used them for solar and roofing. My friend runs one of the largest construction companies in the Monterey Bay. I highly recommend Scudder Roofing!

My husband and I absolutely loved our experience with Scudder Roofing. Our experience could not have been better. The people at Scudders used excellent quality materials, with experienced workers, and are very nice, patient, friendly, hardworking, professional, and kept their word. Our roof looks simply fabulous. We first met with Javier, Project Consultant, who explained the process, styles of roofing, potential costs, estimated time to do the job, warranties, payment schedule, and much more.

As we were emailed the 19 page contract, and more, I read every word and had numerous questions. I wanted clarity of the contract and did not want any misunderstandings. (I appreciated that everything was in writing, as opposed to a well-known painting company that we had recently dealt with, who gave no paperwork and not only changed what was agreed upon, but did not finish the job.) Javier met with us and patiently answered every question.

Really a nice guy. We also met a week prior to our start date of the job with Jaime, Project Manager, to discuss outside and inside protection issues of our plants, trees, and inside wall hangings etc., along with the projected daily schedule. Jaime and his men were always on time, working hard each day, practiced COVID manners, took their appropriate and needed breaks during our hot weather, kept me updated, patiently answered all of my questions, and cleaned up at every day's end. Jaime is a man of integrity for his work and respecting the owner's home.

We have a very high challenging roof with different pitches. I would call it a very scary roof to work on and it is why we waited so long to have our roof redone. I thought it a potential accident waiting to happen, but they tackled it with high skill. Anytime that I had questions for the office, I loved, Janet, Connie, and Jen answering the phone with their friendly quick and polite assistance. Martha with the accounting department was the best to put it mildly. Scudders finished to the day that they had said initially it would take, and followed up quickly with their warranty paper work on our roof. They lived up to their word from the very start through to the end. I can't imagine our roof looking any nicer. We could not be happier. Tom and Constance

Solar panel installation and then later pigeon proofing went easily, on time.

I'm so surprised at the negative reviews. I found every aspect of the project to be very professional. The estimators were professional and presented us with materials about the roofing we chose. They were on time, neat, cleaned up after each days work. The office was knowledgeable and friendly with every encounter. the foreman and workers always announced their arrival and departure. We were very happy with them and highly recommend.

Great team of folks at Scudder. They helped me with a pretty intricate roof replacement on my home in Monterey. The work done for the money spent was well worth it, and they finished up right in time. I wish working with all contractors was this easy! Thanks again to everyone over there who helped us, well use Scudder again on the next one!

I contracted with Scudder roofing to install standing seam roofing on my new home. I have been very pleased with their professionalism and expertise from the initial bidding to the completion of the project. The entire team always delivered what was promised in a timely manner. Communications were promptly responded to as were any concerns that arose along the way. I would certainly recommend them to anyone seeking roofing services. I've been lucky to have found Scudder roofing for my standing seam metal roof. From initial visit from Chris, the sales rep, guiding me through the process, and being knowledgeable about the product really helped me be at ease. Next, in dealing with the installers, Hernan & Armando, two guys with a specialty knowledge, integrity second to none.

They both answered any question I had throughout the project with NO hesitation or "wow this guy is always asking something". No shortcuts at all and attention to detail was exemplary! C.O.O Jen was always available and understanding when i had a question or needed some repairs done throughout the project. Ofelia from billing was great! She would also be available when i had a billing question. She's very friendly!

Every call i had with her ended up being a 10 minute conversation about anything. From the top down, Scudder roofing will help guide you through the good better best products, all are very friendly. I WILL DEFINITELY recommend to anyone in need of a new roof.

I am a repeat customer and want to pass on how much I appreciate Scudder's responsiveness, professionalism and skill in addressing some complicated roofing issues recently. I recommend them highly for any kind of roofing projects.

I set up an appointment two weeks ahead of time for an estimate. I called 20 minutes after the appointed time and. NO SHOW.When I called they said it was an honest mistake. I took the afternoon off to meet them. Do not bother with these people.

Since my bad experience previously stated, I had a visit by the owner. After a sincere apology and genuine contriteness, I am convinced that my experience was due only to one employee--who has since been made aware of how customers should be treated. Moreover, I am convinced that this was an isolated instance and it would be unfair to condemn the entire company for one employee's behavior. Accordingly I no longer think my original evaluation reflects this contractor's service capabilities.

From start to finish our experience with Scudder Roofing was seamless. Everyone in the office, with whom I spoke, were kind, courteous, patient and very knowledgeable with regard to ANY questions that I had - and I had many. I had the wonderful pleasure of having Jaime and Leo as the installers of my new roof. They worked non-stop and we're constantly keeping me in the loop as to what they planned to do each day as well as went over the work they had done at the end of the day.

I could not have imagined such professionals as the two of them. Leo would clean my property at days end and I would always tell him that he did a better job than my gardener. We also had one additional gutter installed as well as all new downspouts. That project was seamless as well. I have nothing but high praise for the Scudder team!

Sent from my iPad I had Scudder Roofing replace the roof on my home. The reason I picked Scudder Roofing was the salesperson Gabe. Gabe came by 2 or 3 times, always made an appointment and was here on time. He fallows up with any questions I had in a timely manner. I liked the fact that Scudder was a large roofing company with good insurance. The reason this was important to me was the eves were quite steep and the back side of the house was a couple stories high.

Before the project started Gabe set up a meeting with the Job managers, Francisco, Abel and Israel. This meeting was to develop our expectations of the job. They made me feel part of this proses which I was not expecting. All of them were very professional and made me feel like I picked the right people to do this job. The day they said it would start, four guys showed up at my house, politely asked if they can start.

I was told this Job would take two weeks and that's what it was, two weeks later. The reason I am promoting this company is for all the people I talked with during the Job. From the Sales team, to ladies at their store, from the Forman's in the field to the crew that made this happen, I talked to them all. I can say for sure that whoever is responsible for keeping the workers happy needs a pat on the back.

The workers talk good about their company and in turn shows it to the customer. So not only on time, professional, they take care of their workers. That made me feel that I was the one that mattered. Thank you, Scudder Team,

If I could give this company a zero I would I don't believe even one star is appropriate. We had them come out to our home initially to asses the roof repair (roof leaking) give us an estimate which we felt was reasonable and hired them to find the leak and repair the roof. I paid almost $300 for them to come out and assess the roof. Then almost another $800 to make the repairs.

After the repair was done it rained a few days later and the roof still leaked. When I called their office to let them know the woman who answered the phone said if we wanted to have someone come back out to look at the roof again it would cost us almost $300 to have them take a look. I was so upset! I was like you just came out and did the check, now I have to pay an additional fee.

Her response to me was I should've read the contract better! This by far pissed me off. Such a bad business practice and felt totally scammed by this company! This company does not guarantee their work. According to my new roofing company Scudder roofing must've sent out a rookie who did a half ass job. After spending over $1000 with Scudder Roofing and now having to call another company who actually found what Scudder did wrong not too mention they also found the source of the leak I really feel like their quality of work is not worth what I paid not too mention they didn't fix anything!

Very disappointing as I am a business owner myself! I will definitely NEVER recommend this company to anyone and I will be sure to let those in search of a roofing company to stay clear of this shady business.

Just want to give a shout out to Scudder Roofing. We have had them both install a skylight a do 2 minor roof repairs. When we had a question about some moisture in the skylight, they were right there with a solution. We like the fact that they do a honest job and don't resort to shortcuts or gimmicks. All jobs were done in a timely manor and came in on budget They pride themselves on being the best and we agree, they are.

Thank you Scudder Roofing we love our Velux sun tunnels. Your guys were on time, professional and answered all of question and let us know what was going on. Super happy!

Great experience with Scudder Roofing for a gutter repair/replacement project. Work was delayed by a day but I was kept informed so my time wasn't wasted. Considerate, professional and extremely knowledgeable people. Highly recommend.

Working with Scudder Roofing was my BEST experience ever with a contractor. After spending years remodeling the interior of our home, it was time to finally replace the original shake roof. My experience with the entire Scudder team was top notch. Ray, the sales consultant not only made sure he stayed within my budget, but also brought samples out to my home and gave me referrals to homes to look at different colors so I could make an educated decision.

The install team was beyond professional. It just happened that one of the biggest storms in years occurred during my install. Carlos' team got the roof sealed completely prior to the storm and when the unexpected high winds hit on the weekend, Carlos was there at 6:30 AM on Saturday during the pouring rain to go up on the roof and make sure everything was still secure.

He went up on the roof every day during the storm and they got the job complete as soon as it cleared up. Scudder is a top notch professional company, from the admin team to the construction teams and I would highly recommend them!

We hired Scudder Roofing to replace our 26 year old fiberglass shingle roof for two reasons. First, Scudder has a well deserved reputation for professional work and excellent customer satisfaction. Secondly we had a 13 year old Solar power array that had to be removed and reinstalled following our roof replacement. Many other roofers in our area claimed to do roofing and "also" would do solar.

My wife and I wanted a "one stop shop" and Scudder was the obvious choice. The roof replacement and the solar power array were replaced on time and at the cost quoted to us. Permits and fees for inspections were included in the quote. The workmanship was impeccable. All of the roof and solar division folks were professional, polite, and thorough in both their communications and their workmanship.

I would not hesitate to recommend Scudder to anyone who contemplating either roof or solar repairs or replacements. Their expertise in both areas is by far the best we could find in Monterey County.

I had 3 appointments to get an estimate. I waited at home and was never met. Poor business practices with no consideration of my time. The first appointment was in the morning. I waited an hour. Nobody came. When I called, they said there had been an emergency and the didn't call me yet because they were thinking my appointment was in the afternoon.

The second appointment, someone called on the day of the appointment, prior to the appointment, and cancelled related to an emergency. The third appointment, I called when they were an hour late. The accountant answered, didn't know anything, and said someone would call back in 5 minutes. 35 minutes later, I called again. Apparently the estimators flight the previous day had problems, so he wouldn't be at work the next day to meet me. Nobody bothered calling me to tell me.

Update and new review, don't see how to edit my old one. Once Pete Scudder and other executive type people were back from vacation, things went very professionally! There was timely followthrough, I was kept informed of what was happening and when. Work was completed this morning! Everyone was polite, professional and cleaned up after themselves daily.

Thanks to Pete Scudder, Javier, and Santiago and the other young man from Cal Brushworks, and Jennifer for setting up. I will recommend your company now and in the future. Appreciate the professionalism!

RUDE, THIS PLACE IS A FRAUD! Came out, did nothing, said they would return the following day to do the work, never heard from them. TWO MONTHS LATER, received a bill for $187, when I called to question it Jennifer Scudder actually ACCUSED MY MOTHER OF LYING about what happened when her roofer showed up! She is unsure of what to do about the bill because her guys have a different story, and ended up reducing from $187 to the $125 service call fee. Really? Clearly from these reviews they are unconcerned with how their customers feel, or their reputation. MANY other roofers in town, don't waste your time with Scudder.

Well, they came to give us an estimate. despite my specific directions to our home which is shown incorrectly on Google Maps, they managed to have trouble to find our home for 40 minutes. It only takes 1 minute or less from Hwy 1 to get there. They then never contacted us to furnish the estimate that they came to make. No call, no nothing. In my mind, this is indicative of the service I would expect; so have called another roofer to work with.

One of the worst businesses in Monterey, of any type. Poor service, excessive prices and pugnacious management.
