The tall guy who does the mixing the mortar is very nice and knowledgeable can tell he's been doing it for a long time

I've used Galewood for a years on my home and place of employment. Have continued to refer them to others because they do great work. Tasha is always so helpful and responsive when I call. Just recently we had an emergency at the office and they came through so fast to assess the situation. Marco was great and explained everything. Within a few hrs I had an estimate and was scheduled for repair! Highly recommend them for their great work and response to service calls. Thank you guys for being so awesome!

I"d guess that those of you who gave Galewood glowing reviews must've had nice sizable jobs for them. In our case, someone came out, took a look at what we were looking to have done, took pictures, said he would submit that and that they'd be in touch. The next morning, someone else called and said, "this jobs just too small for us." While I appreciate his honesty, as well as his apology, the tone suggested that they couldn't be bothered.

So if you need tuckpointing done, you should first ask yourself, "Will my job be big enough for Galewood?' While I appreciate receiving a response to my initial review, I guarantee you that it was not my perception that you felt the job was too small as that is exactly what I was told without being given any further detail. Perhaps if it had been explained to me over the phone the way it was explained in your response to my review, I probably would've been less inclined to post the review in the first place. The phrase, "it's just too small for us" was stated to me twice in that conversation. That is not my perception, it is a fact.

Not sure how to review this because no work was done or quoted. I was referred to Galewood from family members in E.P. who have used them for a similar job I need done at our building. I need to replace two glass block windows in our vacant apartment bathroom and was told that the job is too small for them. When I mentioned that other family members have used Galewood for the same type of job I received the same response.

When I asked if she had any recommendations for this job I was referred to the BBB. It's too bad I can't use and support a local vendor in my own neighborhood, which may have led Galewood to future, "bigger" jobs. Perhaps I should've quoted a phrase from their website: "Our goal is customer satisfaction and performance, no matter the size of the job."

This review has only to do with their disrespect of their workers who begin work at 7 a.m., 7:30 a.m instead of 8 a.m. The humming of their machine wakes up the dead. 8:00 a.m.is the rule. Calling the police of Elmwood Park did not work as no one came out to inform this company of the law.

Galewood has been my go-to contractor for roofing work for almost 17 years. I highly recommend them for that service. I've employed their services at two buildings at which I've presided over as President of the condo association; both on the northwest side of the city, and both with flat roofs. They are honest and quite affordable. At my first building, we had some minor roof leaking issues followed by a bit of a freakout (understandably so) when some contractors were recommending a five-figure roof tear-off.

We found Galewood (I can't remember how), and they saved the day, explaining what was really going on, and presenting a quite reasonable repair estimate which was 70-80% less than the others. After their simple repairs, the leaks stopped, and for the next 10-12 years I presided over that building, we never did have to tear off that roof. At my current building, they were also able to come in and do some simple repair work at estimates that were 30% less than some other vendors in the area.

They also provide a maintenance program, where, for a few hundred dollars - depending on the size of your roof - they will come out once a year, inspect your roof, clean off debris, and do certain cold repairs, like caulking. I have used that at both of my buildings and it provides great peace of mind.

These guys are the best! The price and service simply cannot be beat. The top guys Pat and Frank are men of real character. Tuckpointers Jose and Ino are the best I've ever seen, and I have owned real estate in Chicago for 20+ years, so I have seen the competition. They were super clean, fast, and friendly, and when I mentioned getting a quote for a few items that I had forgotten about, they took care of them then and there at no cost. To put it simply, I won't hire anyone else for roofing and brick work, and you shouldn't either. Five stars is not enough!

Let me make a long story short. We had a leaking problem along the junction between the roof and the front face wall ever since we bought the house (too bad, didn't identify this problem before closing). Then a long and exhausting repair process started. In the beginning, we had worked with at least 3 different contractors who gave us different reasons every time.

Since we eagerly wanted to fix the problem, we paid them all to do what they proposed. But none of them completely fixed the problem. Then we contacted Galewood and explained what had been going on. Mario and Marco from Galewood came out to our house a couple of time to inspect the problem. Although it also took Galewood a couple of tries over the period of almost a year (we have to admit that it was obviously a pretty tough problem as the leaking spot occurred at a location normally not expected), the problem is finally fixed this summer.

We are so relieved thinking that the house is not leaking anymore after a 5-year repairmen effort. We really appreciate the Galewood crew and the owner Frank for all the patience and the effort that have been put in fixing our problem. In our experience, these guys are very responsive and professional in doing their business.

Unprofessional. Called twice and told they would be in touch about an estimate. Never heard back. That was two months ago.

Hands down the absolute WORST experience we have ever had for any service! We Simply do not understand how they remain in business. Galewood Tuckpointing and roofing are quite simply --Thieves! This description does not even capture how awful these guys are. Under NO circumstances would we ever recommend them to anyone. Poor work and excessive costs -- completely unprofessional attitude.

If there were no stars they should reserve that for Galewood Tuckpointing. In the past we've had considerable amount of work done with a range of tradesmen. Never had such a miserable experience. Buyer beware.

Galewood did great pointing work on the parapet, common brick wall, and facade brickwork above the lintels (replacing the typically rusted-out lintels) on my 90-year-old brick 4-flat in the Old Irving Park neighborhood. I am very pleased with the work performed. Mario was a very congenial contact. The crew which did the work, lead by Riccardo, was professional, friendly, and thorough.

They cleaned-up after themselves daily and made sure I was aware of any 'issues'. Even Jackie in the office was gracious and helpful. I would recommend Galewood without hesitation.

We used Galewood for tuck pointing and roofing when selling our house & purchasing another. Everyone at the company (from the representative making the appointments to the guys who came out for the estimates & who completed the work) is so professional, courteous, and reliable. We appreciated how promptly they addressed the issues and how honest they were with estimates & suggestions. Absolutely call them for an estimate.roofing, masonry, tuck pointing, etc.

I had Galewood come out and take a look at a few issues concerning me on my 10 year old roof. They did a very thorough inspection and found issues I hadn't noticed. The price was right and that finished the work sooner that I expected. I'm quite happy and now having them quote on my home tuck-pointing project.

Called these guys when we needed to get our roof checked out after we bought our home. They came out found what was wrong and got the job done with no complaints from me or my husband. They weren't lazy like some places we used in past. I would keep these guys in my phone contacts for any other services that would ever need to be done around my home.

Used these guys a lot when I was in the property management biz. Good group no complaints with there work. In addition to roofing and tuck-pointing services, they do seal-coating and asphalt. So if your a suburban Yelper with a driveway needing repair or maintenance they can help. Pricing is reasonable too. So if your roof is leaky from all this ice and rain give them a call.
