Building owners of this traditional roofing style usually can preserve them for the next generation. This website is for those few individuals who want to know more about antique tin roofing-their history, their advantages and, most importantly, preservation suggestions. Reasonable pricing, custom colors, and modern product materials are available to suit your antique tin roofing needs. The service of protecting old metal roofs involves coatings, such as elastomeric, mesh and application systems over a building's roof.
Services
Roof Menders, Inc, focuses on old metal roof projects in the areas represented on our Portfolio Pages. Over several decades, our work has evolved as liquid roofing products improved. At present, we are known for applying coating-style systems to the niche called old metal roofing. Both owner and crew chief began working on commercial roofing projects using the white acrylics as an integral part of the system to create cool roofs. Commercial building owners quickly understood the economic value of a white roof over black surfaces.
When This Old House introduced the concept of applying acrylics as a method to preserve old metal roofing, Lester Mobley's artistic talent discovered an outlet for his abilities. And this owner happily combined roofing work with her interest in history. Since 2000, vintage metal restoration work has become our signature in six states.
The first step for a metal roof paint project is cleaning the panel surfaces, thereby allowing the metal roof sealants to adhere securely. The first coat of the bronze tinted acrylic is "cut" into the standing seams with a hand brush to insure a complete coverage. With the hard part of the project completed, the crew proceeds with two coats of the bronze-tinted elastomeric.
New Jersey tin roofing projects range from the truly historic sites to charming village settings to the grandeur of our Nation's first seaside resort, Cape May located on the southern point of this state. For anyone who wants to experiment with color schemes for your home, this town is worth a visit.

We were happy with them. We are yet to see if our roof is going to leak and we are hoping that it wouldn?t leak. We would know when it rains a lot. Otherwise, our interactions with them were excellent. We chose them because they specialize in metal roof. There was a little section of our roof around the parameter between the first and second floors that had to be fixed. It was that portion which was made of metal. They were clean and pleasant. They did what they said they were going to do. Our interactions with them were very good. They showed up when we wanted. We did get another quote and they were similar. Their work seems to be neat and they seemed to know what they were talking about. It took them a little while to get it scheduled but I don?t think that was a problem. However, they were pretty good in terms of communicating with us. We would use their services in the future too.

If you have tin or metal roofs, this is the company to go with. I had a hard time with my leaky tin roof. It was just a small part of my roof. Roofers did not want to fix it bc it was metal and that is not part of their expertise. Painters did not want to paint the roof as it was a roof. As it turns out, you need a special coating for metal roofs -- paint will peel in no time. Other painting companies do have this special coating but you have to ask for it specifically as this is not a big part of their business. Also, it takes some expertise to lay down the mesh and also separately to use this coating. The leak is gone and they warrant that the roof will be leak free for 10 years if you get the fully reinforced system. While they were fixing that roof, they noticed another metal roof that needed painting, but not the mesh. I had them take care of it for an additional cost. The owner is great. The reason I do not give an A rating is that her workers are less than careful. They scraped the old paint off and the scrapings were all over my lawn. In addition, I'm still finding scrapings coming out of my gutters. Most of my gutters have underground drains so clogging up my drains was a big concern -- luckily, they seem to be mostly washing out the other end of the drains. My very young daughters wanted to know why the workers did not have their shirts on (they've only seen this at the pool or beach).
